Public reading of Dante – October 20 at “Theatrum”

On the occasion of the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri and in the framework of the 21st Week of the Italian Language, the Embassy of Italy in Tallinn in collaboration with “Theatrum” organizes a Reading of Dante on 20 October at 7pm at the theater “Theatrum”. The reading of selected cantos from “Purgatorio” will be performed by the theater company directed by their Artistic Director Lembit Peterson.

Acting in Estonian, with on-screen translation in Italian and English.

Comments: Ülar Ploom, professor of Italian Studies at the University of Tallinn and a leading expert on Dante in Estonia. Prof. Ploom has written the comments for the Estonian version of Dante’s “Inferno” as well as “Purgatorio” and is currently completing the translation of the “Paradisio” together with another well-known local translator and essayist Ilmar Vene.
