ISSUE OF ITALIAN TAX CODE AND CERTIFICATION OF AN EXISTING TAX CODE
The Italian Tax Code (Codice Fiscale) is essential to carry out various financial transactions in Italy. It can be issued to nationals of any country. The service of this Consular Office is available to private individuals over the age of 18, who are Estonian residents and it is free of charge.
Companies must apply for a tax code in Italy in the location of the registered address or business activity in Italy.
Parents can apply on behalf of their underage children, agents on behalf of a third party. These applications need to include additional documentation.
It is possible to apply for an allocation of Italian Tax Code or for a certification of the pre-existing code using only the application form available via this LINK. This Consular Office will take into account only requests coming from individuals who are residents in Estonia.
Please follow the instructions below carefully.
The application must be completed in all its parts, in particular the details (name, surname, date and place of birth) need to match those in the ID. Italian nationals, even in case of dual citizenship, must apply according to their Italian details. All those who already have an Italian Tax Code MUST specify the service needed and the Italian Tax Code.
The request form with a copy of a valid national passport/ID card and of an Estonian residence permit in .pdf or .jpeg format must be sent to the following e-mail address: consolare.tallinn@esteri.it.
Incomplete applications will regrettably be rejected.
Due to the high volume of consular applications received, the waiting time for obtaining a codice fiscale may vary. Please wait 2 weeks from submission before contacting this Office by phone + 372 627 61 60 requesting information about the progress of your application.
The certification will be sent to the applicant via email as a .pdf file.
Applications on behalf of minors
In addition to the copy of the passport/ID of the child, it is necessary to prove the parental rights, through a parent’s ID and either a .pdf of a birth certificate or part of an ID or passport of the minor that clearly states the names of the parents.
The Italian Tax Code does not expire or change when moving to another country. This office cannot modify previously assigned Codice Fiscale in case of errors or changes in name or surname. Then it is necessary to contact the Agenzia delle Entrate in Italy directly.
PLEASE NOTE: the Italian Tax Code is one of the details included in an Italian Health Services Card (TESSERA SANITARIA) but it is a different document. The Italian Health Services Card has an expiration date and it is only available to residents in Italy. This office does not issue Italian Health Services Cards.
