{"id":166,"date":"2023-04-11T18:20:09","date_gmt":"2023-04-11T15:20:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/autoveicoli-e-patenti-di-guida\/"},"modified":"2025-10-17T16:03:19","modified_gmt":"2025-10-17T13:03:19","slug":"autoveicoli-e-patenti-di-guida","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/servizi-consolari-e-visti\/servizi-per-il-cittadino-italiano\/autoveicoli-e-patenti-di-guida\/","title":{"rendered":"Motor vehicles and driving licenses"},"content":{"rendered":"<h5><strong>Driving licensee<\/strong><\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>If you travel to Estonia for<strong>\u00a0short periods of time<\/strong>, you may use your Italian driving licence because, in accordance with the EU Directive 2006\/126\/EC of December 20, 2006, EU Member States and countries belonging to EEA recognise the driving licences issued by their respective authorities.<\/li>\n<li>Conversely, if you take up\u00a0<strong>your residence<\/strong>\u00a0in Estonia, you have three options available:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u2013 to convert your Italian driving licence into an Estonian equivalent (this is an option, not an obligation);<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 to keep your own driving licence by having it recognised by the local authorities (where provided for by local legislation);<\/p>\n<p>\u2013 to keep your original driving licence without doing anything about it.
