{"id":3340,"date":"2025-11-27T13:21:08","date_gmt":"2025-11-27T10:21:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/?p=3340"},"modified":"2025-11-27T13:26:14","modified_gmt":"2025-11-27T10:26:14","slug":"3340","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/news\/dall_ambasciata\/2025\/11\/3340\/","title":{"rendered":""},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On the occasion of the <strong>International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women<\/strong>, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, <strong>Antonio Tajani<\/strong>, reaffirms Italy and the Farnesina&#8217;s ongoing commitment to <strong>preventing <\/strong>and <strong>combating all forms <\/strong>of <strong>violence <\/strong>and <strong>discrimination against women<\/strong>, in Italy and around the world.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Violence against women is an <strong>unacceptable violation of human rights<\/strong> and an <strong>obstacle<\/strong> to the <strong>development<\/strong> <strong>of<\/strong> <strong>our societies<\/strong>. Italy must continue to be at the forefront of promoting <strong>gender equality, women&#8217;s empowerment,<\/strong> and the<strong> protection<\/strong> of the <strong>most vulnerable<\/strong>. We must build a future in which no woman fears for her freedom or her life. This is a responsibility that falls to<strong> institutions, civil society, <\/strong>and <strong>each of us<\/strong>,&#8221; the Minister stated.<\/p>\n<p>The elimination of gender-based violence remains a cornerstone of Italian<strong> foreign policy <\/strong>and <strong>development cooperation<\/strong>, supporting international campaigns against harmful practices such as female genital mutilation and early and forced marriage, as well as actively contributing to the work of the <strong>UN Commission on the Status of Women.<\/strong> Combating all forms of violence against women and girls is also one of Italy&#8217;s priorities during its mandate as a <strong>member of the United Nations Human Rights Council<\/strong> for the three-year period 2026-2028.<\/p>\n<p>This year, the Ministry and its foreign network are participating in the global &#8220;<strong>Orange the World<\/strong>&#8221; campaign promoted by UN Women, lighting the fa\u00e7ade of the Farnesina and participating in awareness-raising initiatives aimed at civil society and young people.<\/p>\n<p>The Farnesina and the Italian diplomatic and consular network are also renewing their commitment to the &#8220;<strong>red benches<\/strong>&#8221; initiative, a universal symbol of the fight against femicide and a visible warning against all forms of violence.<\/p>\n<p>The promotion of <strong>educational programs<\/strong> that include training on combating violence continues, as exemplified by the scholarship program &#8220;<strong>Invest Your Talent in Italy<\/strong>&#8221; launched in memory of Giulia Cecchettin.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, within the framework of the &#8220;<strong>Women, Peace and Security<\/strong>&#8221; Agenda, Italy is pursuing initiatives to promote women&#8217;s participation in conflict prevention, mediation, and peacebuilding processes, through<strong> the National Action Plan<\/strong> and <strong>the Network of Mediterranean Women Mediators<\/strong>, promoted by our country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Antonio Tajani, reaffirms Italy and the Farnesina&#8217;s ongoing commitment to preventing and combating all forms of violence and discrimination against women, in Italy and around the world. &#8220;Violence against women is an unacceptable [&hellip;]","protected":false},"author":12,"featured_media":3337,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"tags":[],"class_list":["post-3340","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3340","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/12"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=3340"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3340\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":3343,"href":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/3340\/revisions\/3343"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/3337"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=3340"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/ambtallinn.esteri.it\/en\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=3340"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
