On the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Decision that returned Estonia to the community of nations, I extend my greetings and my expressions of gratitude to all those who work for ever closer relations between our countries.<\/p>\n
On August 20, 1991, Estonia regained its destiny as a sovereign state.<\/p>\n
The re-establishment of diplomatic relations with Italy, which has never recognized the annexation of Estonia to the USSR, was agreed on August 27 and made effective on August 31.<\/p>\n
In the path that led Estonia to join the Atlantic Alliance and the European Union, the support of Italy has never failed, not only on a political level, but also accompanying the rapid economic and social transformation of Estonia.<\/p>\n
The exchange of experiences, the participation of Italian companies and work in the development of Estonia, the collaboration in culture and science, all the bonds that have been created over time have cemented the friendship between our countries, friendship that is strengthened in the membership of the Euro-Atlantic institutions.<\/p>\n
The contribution of the Italian Armed Forces to the defence of the Baltic Republics in the context of NATO mechanisms demonstrates the concrete implementation of the principle of solidarity, the cornerstone of relations between the member states of the Atlantic Alliance and on which the European construction is based.<\/p>\n
By joining the European Union, Estonia has become part not only of the most advanced system of economic integration, but also of a community of values \u200b\u200bthat allows us to share opportunities for progress and social and democratic growth.<\/p>\n
The great challenges for overcoming the pandemic and for building a sustainable future offer new opportunities for collaboration between our countries in sectors that can bring great benefits to the well-being of citizens and to the competitiveness of businesses.<\/p>\n
With the hope that the excellent relations between Estonia and Italy will intensify, let us work together to defend and strengthen democracy, justice and freedom.<\/p>\n

Sellel teel, mis viis Eesti liituma P\u00f5hja-Atlandi lepingu ja Euroopa Liiduga, on Eestil alati olnud Itaalia toetus nii poliitilisel tasandil kui ka majandusliku ja sotsiaalse struktuuri kiire \u00fcmberkujundamisega.<\/p>\n
Kogemuste jagamine, Itaalia ettev\u00f5tete ja t\u00f6\u00f6tajate osalemine Eesti arengus, koost\u00f6\u00f6 kultuuri- ja teadusvaldkonnas ning k\u00f5ik aja jooksul tekkinud sidemed on tugevdanud meie riikide vahelist s\u00f5prust, mis kasvab veelgi t\u00e4nu \u00fchisele kuulumisele Euroopa ja transatlantilistesse institutsioonidesse.<\/p>\n
Itaalia relvaj\u00f5udude panus Balti vabariikide kaitsesse NATO mehhanismide kontekstis ilmestab konkreetset solidaarsusp\u00f5him\u00f5tte rakendamist, mis on Atlandi Liidu liikmesriikide vaheliste suhete ja Euroopa \u00fclesehitamise nurgakivi.<\/p>\n
Euroopa Liiduga liitumisega on Eesti saanud osaks mitte ainult k\u00f5ige arenenumast majandusliku integratsiooni s\u00fcsteemist, vaid ka v\u00e4\u00e4rtustel p\u00f5hinevast kogukonnast, mis lubab meil jagada v\u00f5imalusi edasiminekuks ning sotsiaalseks ja demokraatlikuks kasvuks.<\/p>\n
Suured v\u00e4ljakutsed pandeemia \u00fcletamiseks ja j\u00e4tkusuutliku tuleviku ehitamine pakuvad uusi v\u00f5imalusi meie riikide vaheliseks koost\u00f6\u00f6ks valdkondades, mis v\u00f5ivad tuua suurt kasu kodanike heaolule ja ettev\u00f5tete konkurentsiv\u00f5imele.<\/p>\n
Lootuses, et Eesti ja Itaalia suurep\u00e4rased suhted tihenevad veelgi, saame koos t\u00f6\u00f6tada, et kaitsta ja tugevdada demokraatiat, \u00f5iglust ja vabadust.<\/p>\n
