The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) has published the announcement for the application for grants and prizes for the distribution of Italian books through the translation of fiction and non-fiction works, as well as for the production, dubbing and subtitling of films, short films and tv-series intended for mass media circulation
Publishers, translators, production/distribution/dubbing/subtitling companies, cultural institutions, literary agents, and agencies may apply for two types of incentives:
1) grants and awards for foreign-language translation;
2) grants and awards for the production of short films, feature films, and television series.
a) Grants:
– An incentive may be requested for the translation into a foreign language and dissemination through publication (including e-book format) of Italian literary and scientific works scheduled for publication after July 1, 2026, i.e., published before the deadline for completing the application and award procedures.
– An incentive may also be requested for the production, dubbing, or subtitling in a foreign language of short films, feature films, and television series produced after July 1, 2026, i.e., published before the deadline for completing the application and award procedures.
b) Awards:
– An award may be requested for the translation of Italian literary and scientific works (including e-books);
– An award may also be requested for short films, feature films, and television series intended for mass media – that were distributed, translated, produced, dubbed, or subtitled no earlier than January 1, 2025.
