On 16 October 2023, the study day entitled “Italy and Estonia: between diplomacy, language and culture” will take place at Tallinn University.
The event will be inaugurated by the Ambassador of Italy to Estonia, H.E. Daniele Rampazzo and the Rector of Tallinn University, Prof. Tõnu Viik.
In the first part of the day, the seminar of Dr. Kristo Nurmis (Tallinn University) and Dr. Rosario Napolitano (Technical University of Riga/Latvian Academy of Fine Arts) will take place. They will respectively illustrate Estonia’s foreign policy during the interwar period and Italy’s role in the Baltics between the 1920s and 1930s.
After the opening seminar, the exhibition of diplomatic documents “Bilateral relations between Italy and Estonia during the interwar period” will be inaugurated. The exhibition is curated by Dr. Helina Tennasilm (State Archives of the Republic of Estonia) and Dr. Rosario Napolitano.
The exhibition will be on display until December 1, 2023.
The second part of the study day will be dedicated to the debate on the theme “Italian and Italians in Estonia” which will see the participation of professors from Tallinn University Eneken Laanes, Daniele Monticelli, Ülar Ploom, Kristiina Rebane, Paolo Schimenti and by Prof. Luisa Revelli (University of Valle d’Aosta).
The event is organized by the Embassy of Italy in Tallinn in collaboration with Tallinn University and under the High Patronage of the President of the Republic.
