August 8 – National Day of Sacrifice of Italian Work in the World

On August 8th 1956 262 miners, including 136 Italians, lost their lives in a tragic accident in the Bois du Cazier coal mine in Marcinelle, Belgium.

In memory of this event, the “National Day of Sacrifice of Italian Work in the World” is celebrated on that date.

For this occasion, the Honorable Vice President of the Council and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani has addressed a message to his compatriots abroad, available in the attachment (only in Italian).
