The President of the Italian Republic has awarded three professors of the Institute of Humanistic Studies of Tallinn University important honors for their extraordinary commitment to promoting the Italian language and culture. The honors were presented to them by Ambassador Stefano Catani during the Republic Day celebrations:
- To Prof. Ülar Ploom, Commander of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic, for his translations of various masterpieces of the Italian language, including Dante’s “Paradise”;
- To Prof. Kristiina Rebane, Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy, for her contribution in promoting the Italian language through one of the most active and popular courses in Estonia;
- To Prof. Daniele Monticelli, Knight of the Order of the Star of Italy, for his constant commitment to linguistic and cultural mediation between Italy and Estonia.
