ITALY AND ESTONIA AFTER ARTEMIS II: DRIVING THE NEXT LUNAR RENAISSANCE

Esto-Italian Space Conference

Tallinn, 29 October 2026 – Estonian Business School

The Embassy of Italy in Tallinn, in cooperation with the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) – Stockholm Office, is pleased to announce the Third Conference on Italian-Estonian Space Cooperation, within the framework of the Software Defined Space Conference 2026, which this year will focus on the theme “Italy and Estonia After Artemis II: Driving the Next Lunar Renaissance.”

What comes after Artemis II? And how can the return to the Moon be transformed into an increasingly permanent, technologically advanced and sustainable presence?

The conference will bring together experts and leading representatives from the Italian and Estonian research, industry and space communities to explore the technologies, expertise and opportunities that will shape the next phase of lunar exploration.

The programme will feature two roundtable discussions. The first, “From Artemis II to a Permanent Lunar Presence,” will focus on the infrastructure, mobility, robotics and operational capabilities needed to establish a permanent presence on the Moon.

The second, “The Digital Moon,” will explore the role of small satellites, imaging, autonomy, cybersecurity and New Space technologies, with a particular focus on technology transfer and industrial applications.

The conference will provide an opportunity for Italy and Estonia to exchange perspectives on a rapidly evolving sector, bringing together research, innovation and industry while strengthening opportunities for collaboration between the two countries’ space ecosystems.

The next chapter of lunar exploration is already underway. Italy and Estonia are looking together towards what comes next.
