COMMEMORATION OF THE 67TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE MARCINELLE TRAGEDY

Marcinelle

Today, August 8th, is the “Day of Sacrifice of Italian Work in the World”, which acknowledge and recognize the work and sacrifice of many Italian citizens emigrated abroad. Such commemoration falls in the anniversary of the mine tragedy of Marcinelle (Belgium) of 1956, where, in the mine of Bois du Cazier, 262 miners, of them 136 Italians, lost their lives. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for such occasion wanted to send a message to all Italians living abroad (available in Italian).
