2026 GRANTS FOR RESEARCH VISITS AND CULTURAL COOPERATION BETWEEN ITALY AND ESTONIA

The Embassy of Italy in Tallinn is pleased to announce that, for 2026, the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) is offering grants to support the international mobility of researchers, academics, experts, and cultural professionals.

This initiative is part of Italy’s cultural diplomacy efforts and aims to strengthen cooperation between Italian and Estonian institutions by fostering joint projects, academic exchange, and new research opportunities.

 

Who can apply

The programme is open to:

  • Italian researchers, academics, and experts, or those residing in Italy, who have been invited by Estonian universities or cultural institutions;
  • Estonian researchers, academics, and experts (or those residing in Estonia) invited by Italian universities or cultural institutions.

Proposed activities must focus on study, research, or cultural cooperation.

 

What the grant covers

The grant provides a flat-rate financial contribution to partially cover travel and accommodation expenses for short-term visits of up to 10 days.

Its main objective is to facilitate mobility and encourage the development of partnerships between academic and cultural institutions in Italy and Estonia, with particular attention to initiatives that can generate lasting impact.

 

How to apply

Applicants must have received an official invitation from a university or cultural institution.

Interested candidates are invited to contact the Embassy of Italy in Tallinn, which will provide guidance on the application process and support applicants throughout the procedure.

 

Selection criteria

Applications will be assessed based on:

  • the candidate’s academic and professional profile;
  • the quality and relevance of the proposed activity or project;
  • the potential for developing medium- to long-term collaboration;
  • the standing of the institutions involved.

 

Timeline

Research activities must take place within 2026. Applications should be submitted to this Embassy by 20 July 2026 by completing the dedicated application form herby attached and sending it to tallinn.culturale@esteri.it.
